the story

ALOHA [ki•ele]: dainty, eclectic, chic, organic.

[ki•ele] jewelry is handmade in Hawaii and created by Australian born designer, Marylea Conrad. Conrad graduated with First Class Honors completing her Bachelor of Design Degree in Fashion & Textile Design at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. Today, she lives on the beautiful island of O‘ahu with her husband and two little girls.

the origins

: In 2008, Conrad launched [ki•ele] in Honolulu. And the name, "Kiele," pronounced [ki-eh-leh] is Conrad‘s youngest daughter + Hawaiian for gardenia.

the direction

: Conrad continues to strive to infuse her design roots into this growing brand that aims to balance the organic elements of the beach with inorganic materials. To this day [ki•ele] has gained widespread popularity among local residents throughout Hawaii, and more recently in Japan, Australia and mainland U.S.A.

the materials

: 14K gold, 14K gold-filled, vermeil and sterling silver are among the materials [ki•ele] uses.

this 2014

: During [ki•ele]'s 5th Anniversary year, the brand continues to feature its love for Hawaii through [ki•ele]'s collection "ALOHA, Hawaii." [aloha: Hawaiian for hello, goodbye and love]. In this case, the love and aloha for the Islands are represented through Conrad's affinity to Hawaiian sea life [starfish + seahorse], and seashells found along the beaches. [ki•ele]'s signature Hawaiian-inspired lei silhouettes and hammered finishes continue to play through her collection.

the media journey

: Locally from 2008 to 2014, [ki•ele] was featured in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser newspaper, Island Family Magazine and, ThisWeek Publications, a feature in Honolulu's MidWeek newspaper, Waikiki Magazine, Ala Moana Magazine and Hawaii Business Magazine. Nationally/Internationally 2010, [ki•ele] was featured in Oakley's Summer Ad campaign. In 2011, Japan's Aloha Express Magazine. And in 2011-2012, [ki•ele] graced the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Magazine on cover girl models including Bar Refaeli and Kate Upton. In 2013 [ki•ele]'s dainty necklaces were seen on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2013's model, Nina Agdal, online @ plus Japan's JALPAK and Aloha Street online, the TODAY morning show and more recently [ki•ele]'s beach glass "Makapu'u teardrop earrings" were featured in Coastal Living Magazine. And most recently, [ki•ele] was featured on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models on for 2014.

[ki•ele] is also a sponsor of Miss Hawaii USA 2014.
